Biography
Dr. Lynn Cohen joined the LIU’s School of Education in 2005 is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education & Literacy. Her educational qualifications are in early childhood, language and literacy, remedial reading, psychology, and school administration. She has had a diverse career path, working in both elementary and higher education. Prior to her move to Long Island University, she worked both as a director supervising early childhood staff, implementing curriculums and as an early childhood teacher. In the last two years, she has contributed to research grants with a value of more than $198,000. Dr. Cohen has published more than 20 articles and delivers professional development workshops for parents and early childhood teachers. She is founding member of the Play, Policy, Practice Interest Forum of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She serves on the advisory board for The Association for the Study of Play. Currently, Dr. Cohen is involved with a University-school partnership with Wyandanch Union Free School District.
